It is a historical time for Panama, as the entire country is cheering and celebrating its soccer team who on October 10, 2017 won over Costa Rica 2:1 in the Rommel Fernández stadium in Panama and herewith qualified, for the first time ever, for the FIFA World Cup which is currently taking place in Russia.
With this qualification, the soccer team gave the Isthmus one of its greatest sports joys of recent time, compared with the four-weight world champion boxer legend Robert “Manos de Piedra” Durán.
While the Panama selection lost against its first opponent Belgium at the Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia on Monday 0:3, the team proved a strong performance and resistance especially during the first half which ended with a 0:0.
The fans in Panama and around the world are utmost proud of its team and support it with all their heart. Despite the strong opponents their beloved “Sele” begins to write its own story in a competition that until recently seemed utopian.
Upcoming rivals for the Panamanian team: England (June 24) and Tunisia (June 28).
GO PANAMA! GO PANAMA! GO PANAMA!
